**About the Opportunity**
As a Policy Adviser, you will work in a fast-paced and influential team of passionate professionals who drive positive change by influencing government decision-making. Using your knowledge and skills, you will analyse and advise on policy issues that affect businesses that operate in WA and think outside of the box to identify solutions to policy problems.
The position is offered on a full time, permanent basis reporting to the Manager, Policy.
**Your responsibilities include**:
You will be responsible for developing and advocating for CCIWA's policy positions on a diverse mix of policy areas, including, for example, climate change and energy policy, skills and migration, innovation, payroll tax, and regulatory reform.
- Undertaking research and analysis, including monitoring developments in relevant legislation and policy.
- Listening and understanding CCIWA member concerns through roundtables, forums and meetings.
- Effectively communicating CCIWA policy positions to government and members via advocacy channels, including by supporting the CEO and Chief Economist with clear and concise background material when required.
- Building and maintaining constructive relationships with key external stakeholders to influence policy development, including within government bodies and other industry associations.
- Preparing written submissions to State and Federal Governments consultation processes and writing original policy content.
- Working collaboratively with the rest of the business unit to plan and deliver projects to achieve results.
**About you**
Success in this role will come from your passion in policy and advocacy, well-developed analytical and critical thinking skills and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Above all, you will be a catalyst for change with a yearning to advocate on behalf of the WA business community.
To be considered for this role, you will possess:
- Bachelor and/or Tertiary degree in a relevant field such as public policy, economics, commerce or law.
- Possess the skills to advocate on behalf of the business community through effective communication.
- Outstanding problem solving and critical thinking skills,
- Superior written skills and the ability to create original policy content.
- The ability to build constructive relationships with business and government.
- National Police Clearance.
