The role
Job Overview
We are looking for a GIS Analyst to join our Bushfire and flood‐mapping reconnaissance team based in Nowra.
Responsibilities
- Support aircraft and scanner operators/aircrew to deliver information crucial to searching for and mapping fire and flood areas.
- Collate and curate a variety of multispectral images received from our aircraft.
- Ensure clients receive information required as part of our contract.
- Develop operational improvements to enhance and streamline mission planning, processing and delivery of imagery data.
- Collaborate with aircraft teams to select and develop best outcomes for our clients.
Qualifications
- Willingness to be within 1 hour of Nowra for at least the first 8 weeks for training, after which the role can be remote.
- IT skills and experience with GIS software such as QGIS, ENVI, Global Mapper or similar.
- Willingness to work on call at short notice.
- High levels of awareness and a safety‐first attitude.
- Willingness to gain a defence security clearance (Australian citizenship required).
