Location: Albany – with travel throughout the region of SAC as required
Employment Terms:
Hours of Work: 36.5 hours per week.
Duration (Term) of contract: Maximum, Fixed term ends 30 June 2027.
This position is supported by grant funding, and as such, it is contingent upon the grant's continuation. Should the grant funding be reduced or terminated, the position may be subject to change, reduction in hours, or termination.
Wages: Dependent on restriction, in line with Level 3 or 4 of the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010, with the option of salary sacrifice. Superannuation guarantee paid as legislated (currently 12.0%).

About the Role
The Southern Aboriginal Corporation (SAC) now has a fantastic opportunity for two devoted solicitors to join our team in Albany.
Reporting to the Principal Solicitor and the FVPLS Manager, the Solicitors will provide quality legal advice, representation and referral to clients relating to family violence issues. The role also involves working within the community to increase awareness and deliver community legal education.
While based in Albany this position provides support across different FVPLS offices located in the region of operation of SAC.
About You
We are seeking a motivated and committed person that essentially has:
- Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor
- Admitted for admittance as a legal practitioner in Western Australia.
- Demonstrated experience in the area of family law.
- Ability to conduct litigation.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal people.
- Proven ability to manage a large case load.
- Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Understanding of multidisciplinary teamwork and the capacity and willingness to work effectively within a team environment.
Desirably, you will also have:
- An understanding of culturally informed approaches relating to Noongar people of the Great Southern and their culture.
