Student Midwives
Graduate with a post graduate diploma in midwifery from La Trobe University
Applications are invited from Registered Nurses interested in pursuing a midwifery career. The Graduate Diploma of Midwifery is offered in conjunction with the La Trobe University through their Bendigo campus. The course is 12months commencing in the first week of February and runs until January each year. The course is a paid employment model at 0.8 EFT.
About you:
* Applicants must have a passion to work with women and their families throughout their journey to childbirth.
* Registration as an RN with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) is essential.
* A team-based approach and time-management skills are vital.
* 12 months post-graduate experience in an acute clinical setting along with well-developed assessment, teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills are desirable.
About the role:
The Mildura Base Public Hospital's Maternity unit has an 8 bed antenatal/postnatal ward, 4 birthing-suites (3 staffed and 1 unstaffed), Maternity Assessment Unit and a 4 cot Level 3 Special Care Nursery caring for babies 34weeks and above gestation. Student Midwives rotate through all these areas. The service covers the North West region of Victoria and parts of NSW. With around 800 births per year and it is our aim to provide family-centred care to women around the Sunraysia District. The maternity unit is supported by O&G doctors, a MUM, ANUMs, Midwifery Educator, Clinical Support Midwives and a dynamic midwifery team who work within the hospital's values.
