About the role
A well-established commercial construction business is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of commercial building and fitout projects across Canberra.
This is a senior role responsible for overseeing multiple sites and managing Site Managers to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget. The position suits a commercially astute construction professional with extensive industry experience and strong leadership capability.
You will play a key role in programme delivery, stakeholder management and driving project performance across the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Programme Delivery
* Manage end-to-end delivery of commercial construction projects
* Oversee Site Managers and site-based teams
* Ensure projects meet programme, budget and quality targets
* Monitor project risks and implement mitigation strategies
* Review drawings, scopes and construction methodology
Commercial & Financial Management
* Manage project budgets, forecasting and cost control
* Assess variations and support contract administration
* Report project performance to senior leadership
* Drive efficiency across project delivery
Stakeholder Management
* Liaise with clients, consultants and subcontractors
* Maintain strong communication across all project phases
* Provide leadership and direction to site teams
* Ensure professional client outcomes
Safety & Compliance
* Enforce WHS standards across all sites
* Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations
* Maintain high-quality delivery standards
Skills & Experience
Essential
* 10-30 years' experience in commercial construction
* Proven experience as Project Manager or Senior Project Manager
* Strong background managing Site Managers and multiple projects
* Excellent commercial and programme management capability
* Strong knowledge of commercial fitouts or building projects
* High-level leadership and communication skills
* Ability to operate autonomously at senior level
Highly Regarded
* Trade or tertiary qualification in construction
* Experience in ACT commercial market
* Experience delivering office, medical or retail fitouts
Salary & Benefits
* $140,000 - $180,000 + super (depending on experience)
