The Associate Nurse Unit Manager provides supervision and support to junior staff, contributes to safe and effective service delivery, and deputises for the Nursing Unit Manager as required.**About our Maternity Unit*** **Modern 6‐bed Birthing Suite** designed for safe, calm and personalised birthing experiences* **6‐cot Level 3 Special Care Nursery (SCN)** providing specialised care for unwell or premature babies* **22‐bed antenatal/postnatal ward**, plus onsite CTG service, antenatal clinics and lactation support* **K2 Guardian Fetal Monitoring System** for continuous, real‐time fetal surveillance and enhanced clinical decision-making* **We welcomed 974 births last year** and tracking toward **1,000+ births this year** — a vibrant, growing maternity service**The Position:*** Supervises nursing practice of all nursing caregivers taking responsibility for standard of nursing care delivered.* Initiates reviews and coordinates care of patients with complex health problems.* Serves as a patient advocate, protecting the rights and safety of patients at all times.* Actively contributes to the development of clinical policies and procedures in area of specialty.* Responsible and accountable for nominated portfolios as designated by Nurse Manager and actively communicate with Nurse Manager updates.* Participates in and takes responsibility for the education of other caregivers by conducting formal and informal teaching sessions.* Routinely monitors the results of diagnostic procedures and investigations and report abnormalities as required to the required caregiver.* Systematically evaluates and documents the outcomes of nursing/medical interventions and report significant anomalies promptly.* Ensures documentation of planned nursing care and holistic care plan remains current and regularly evaluate documentation of the multidisciplinary team to determine their compliance to hospital policy.You will have a registration with Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse Midwife or Registered Midwife, you will have well developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of acts and legislation that impact on the practice of nursing. As a leader you will demonstrate ability to develop and build effective nursing, medical and interdisciplinary relationships and teams.
