The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening local industry—particularly manufacturing—and supporting inclusive employment outcomes across Greater Dandenong.
This role will support the delivery of a new Employment Hub, a major three-year initiative designed to connect local people with local jobs. The position also contributes to the delivery of South East Business Network programs and events, fostering collaboration and innovation across the region.
While this role has no direct reports, it provides informal leadership and guidance within a dedicated team, contributing to capability-building and shared success.
Key responsibilities include:
* Building relationships with manufacturing and other local businesses through site visits and engagement.
* Coordinating employment programs and partnerships that promote inclusive workforce development.
* Supporting the delivery of the Employment Hub, including stakeholder coordination and grant management.
* Contributing to the delivery of South East Business Network programs and events.
* Providing senior leadership within the team and representing Council in external forums.
About you
We're looking for someone who's proactive, collaborative, and passionate about creating real impact through industry engagement and employment initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the following:
* Tertiary qualifications in economic development, business, employment services, or a related field.
* Proven experience in industry engagement (particularly manufacturing) and delivering employment programs or workforce development initiatives.

* Demonstrated ability to coordinate projects and develop strategic partnerships.
* Analytical skills to interpret data and apply insights.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Please ensure you address the key selection criteria outlined in the position description as part of your application.
The successful candidate will be asked to produce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an 'international criminal history check'), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
