Job Description:
Tarkine Consulting is working with a large enterprise organisation to support a MuleSoft integration platform team. As part of a broader uplift in API quality and integration capability, they are looking to bring in a senior automation tester to focus on backend validation across distributed systems.
This is a hands-on role, working closely with engineering and delivery teams to build and maintain API automation, validate integration flows, and embed testing into CI/CD pipelines.
What you'll be doing
* Build and maintain automated API regression suites across MuleSoft services
* Validate request and response behaviour, error handling, and downstream integrations
* Work across microservices environments, ensuring data consistency and system integrity
* Apply schema validation across JSON and XML payloads
* Use mocking and service virtualisation to simulate dependent systems
* Embed automated testing into CI/CD pipelines using Git-based workflows
* Support performance, security, and observability validation where required
What we're looking for
* Strong experience in API and integration testing within enterprise environments
* Hands-on automation experience using REST Assured and Junit
* Experience working in Java and Spring Boot based environments
* Exposure to MuleSoft, including Anypoint Platform, CloudHub, MUnit, or DataWeave
* Strong understanding of REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
* Experience with tools such as Postman or Bruno for API validation
* Familiarity with mocking tools such as WireMock or Hoverfly
* Experience working with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar)
* Understanding of JSON/XML schema validation and API contract testing
* Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling
* Exposure to logging and monitoring tools such as Splunk or New Relic
* Background in financial services or insurance environments
