They are responsible for providing efficient, safe and reliable collection and delivery of all goods.
What makes this role is the variety that each day brings and seeing the generousity of the community in their support of The Salvation Army.Key responsibilitiesDriving: Bringing a high level of driving capability, friendly professionalism and reliability to collecting donated food.Vehicle care: Drivers are key in ensuring the vehicle is safe and fully operational by regularly checking tyres, fuel levels and monitoring oil and water levels.
Diligently ensure vehicle is checked before each shift and rectify any issues before collecting donations, reporting issues and repairs to the Corps Officer.Administration: Limited to filling in the vehicle log book and ensuring an identification badge is worn at all times, as well communications with Line Manager regarding any concerns that may arise.Stock handling: Unload donated food, unpack and stock shelves and fridge/freezer.
Assemble food packs as required.
• Child Safety: This role is not expected to interact with children so ensure donors/customers are aware that a parent or guardian must be supervising if there are children present at the collection/delivery location.Qualifications and skills (desired/required)• Current C Class driver's licence• Good communication skills• Customer service experience highly regardedCapabilities and personal attributesManage Self: Shows personal motivation and commitment to completing work activities effectively; regulates own behaviour and responds appropriately in all circumstances.Act Ethically and with Integrity: Acts consistent with TSA vision, mission and values; represents the organisation in an honest, ethical and professional way; is reliable and trustworthy.Show Respect: Responds in culturally appropriate ways; recognises and respects the rights and beliefs of others in a non-judgemental way.Communicate Effectively: Listens to others when they are speaking and asks appropriate, respectful questions; speaks at the right pace and volume for varied audiences; clarifies own understanding.Display Resilience: Keeps control of own emotions and remains calm in the face of challenging situations.Lead Safety and Wellbeing: Identifies and follows safe work practices; takes action to address hazards, near misses and incidents.Background check requirementsBackground checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation.
