Job Description:
Key duties and responsibilities
• Liaising with stakeholders to understand and document their data needs and translate these requirements into reporting products.
• Leading the development of advanced Excel and Power BI reporting products to support program managers and to provide insights to stakeholders and the executive.
• Managing ad-hoc data and reporting requests across diverse subject matters and datasets.
• Developing, implementing and maintaining SQL queries and scripts for efficient data extraction and transformation.
• Maintaining DAX, PowerQuery M, data models and visuals within Power BI dashboards
• Ensuring data quality, integrity and security in all data-related processes in accordance with departmental and Australian Government policies.
Our ideal candidate will:
• have high proficiency in SQL, DAX and PowerQuery M and experience with relational SQL databases
• have expertise in using Power BI for data visualisation and reporting
• have highly developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex information succinctly to non-technical audiences
• strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
• develop and maintain productive working relationships with a range of stakeholders
• lead analytical work in a fast-paced changing environment, managing competing priorities and effectively meeting tight time frames to deliver projects
• be a self-driven learner who is able to independently learn new technologies and solve problems.
Technical skills
• Experience with other data analysis tools and software (e.g., Python, R).
• Familiarity with statistical analysis and predictive modelling.
• Knowledge and an interest in emerging data analysis and science technologies (machine learning, etc.)
