About the Role

This is a technical, hands‑on role with a strong emphasis on network design, architecture, and implementation, alongside the resolution of complex and escalated IT service issues across network, cloud, security, and infrastructure domains. As a senior member of the team, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients' environments at the highest levels, ensuring their networks are robust, secure, scalable, and aligned to best‑practice standards.

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will lead the design and deployment of new network solutions, enhance existing architectures, and implement configuration changes across routing, switching, wireless, WAN, and network security technologies. The role involves both proactive and reactive responsibilities, ensuring prompt resolution of complex issues while continually identifying opportunities to improve network performance, reliability, and resilience. You will work closely with Consultants and other senior technical stakeholders, acting as a primary escalation point for advanced network challenges and contributing to solution architecture, implementation planning, and project delivery. You will serve as a trusted technical contact for clients, guiding them through upgrades, migrations, and major infrastructure improvements while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. In addition, you will mentor team members, contribute to the development of internal technical capabilities, and act as a subject‑matter expert for the technologies in which you excel. Your leadership and hands‑on expertise will play a key role in shaping and maintaining high‑quality, future‑ready network environments for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

* Design and implement solutions using skills in routing, switching, firewall, wireless and cloud technologies.
* Develop technical design documentation such as high-level design, low-level design and configuration templates.
* Manage Client relationships and expectations for service and project delivery.
* Perform network planning and reviews to ensure client environments meet organisational requirements
* Provide technical oversight of projects through design, implementation and post-implementation review.
* Assist with opportunity development including pre-project scoping and planning.
* Develop and maintain vendor relationships to enhance technical capability and product offerings.
* Contribute to the development of skills and knowledge in the consulting, engineering and services teams.
* Provide escalation support on networking issues to our team of network & system engineers.

* Ensure appropriate delivery quality & accountability for completion on all delivery tasks
* Regular & effective communication across stakeholders on status of work performed
* Self organisation, effective use of calendar and efficient use of time.
* Continual development, learning and training of technical skills across all key network technologies
* Contribute to Comunet Knowledge Management with documentation and learning sessions

Key Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Knowledge and experience in designing and implementing enterprise network solutions across LAN, WAN, Wireless and Cloud.
* Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network design and implementation is required.
* Deep technical experience on a specialty area that may include one or more of Routing/Switching, SD-WAN, Network Security, Wireless
* Hands-on experience with Fortinet, Cisco, or other major vendor technologies and platforms is essential.
* Understanding of the security implications and controls within the solutions.
* Ability to discuss requirements and solutions at a technical level.
* Ability to discuss requirements and solutions in plain English to business users and management.
* Knowledge and experience in various industry verticals with a good understanding of related IT systems utilised within these industries.
* Knowledge of IT Service Management & ITIL practices.
* Experience working with Project Management teams and leading project delivery.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including good documentation skills.
* Experience working in a disciplined service delivery and consulting environment and being accountable for your time is desirable.

Requirements:

* 10+ years' experience delivering professional IT services
* 5+ years of relevant experience working as a Network Engineer or Network Security Engineer.
* Bachelor's degree in computer systems & Networking; Information Systems or equivalent. Relevant industry/vendor certifications such as Cisco CCNA or CCNP may substitute for the formal qualification
* Fortinet FCP Network Security or FCSS Network Security or equivalent NSE certification is desirable
* CCNP Security certification is an acceptable alternative to Fortinet network security certifications.
