Reporting into senior leadership, the National Security Manager provides strategic and operational oversight of security activities across Australia and New Zealand, leading a team of experienced state-based security representatives. The role partners closely with Senior Leadership Team and Executive Leadership Team, providing insight on emerging trends, incident risk, and mitigation strategies, and delivers regular reporting to the CEO and Business Unit Presidents. You will act as the national escalation point for high-impact security incidents and critical matters requiring senior and law enforcement escalation. While most investigations and audits are managed by state representatives, you may attend sites personally where incidents are significant or sensitive.
This role is suited to a senior security leader, ideally with a background in law enforcement or large-scale corporate security, who is comfortable operating at executive level. You are confident managing experienced professionals, influencing senior stakeholders, and making sound judgement calls in high-pressure situations.
Location and Travel
This role can be based at any Linfox state head offices. Regular national and New Zealand travel is required to support teams across all states/regions.
Responsibilities
* Leading and managing five direct reports across Australia and New Zealand, including performance, leave, budgets, and development.
* Acting as the senior point of contact for critical incident management, including business continuity considerations.
* Preparing and presenting monthly security reports to senior executives, including trend analysis and risk insights.
* Providing escalation briefings to SLT/ELT as required.
* Managing law enforcement relationships and external regulatory engagement nationally.
* Oversight of investigations, audits, and site security infrastructure projects across business units.
* Ensuring accurate reporting and governance requirements, including SAP, travel, and expense management.
* Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and a high-trust, values-led security culture.
Qualifications
* Subject matter expertise of resilience, risk and security functions within a large organisation.
* 5 years security experience in a large commercial enterprise and/or organisation.
* Significant experience working within a standards-based compliance and assurance management system.
* Proven ability to understand/interpret legislation and regulation in a resilience, security and investigation context.
* Investigations experience / management within a commercial or law enforcement environment including expertise applying ER/IR principles to the investigation's environment.
* Experience with crisis/critical incident management programs in a large organisation.
* Practical knowledge of governance structures in large organisations with an ability to quickly align activities to these.
* A thorough understanding of risk management principles including the concepts of risk assessment and risk mitigation.
* Self‐starter and strong team leader.
* Highly customer (internal/external), quality and productivity focused, with an attention to detail.
