About The Role
Join a passionate and purpose-driven team supporting families across our community. As an Enhanced Maternal and Child Health Nurse (EMCH), you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality, family-centred care to children aged 0–6 and their families, with a strong focus on those requiring additional support. Working collaboratively within the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and Family Services teams, you'll provide early intervention, promote child health and development, and support families experiencing vulnerability or complexity.
A Little More About The Role
* Provide services for families with children under six years from various language, cultural and socio-economic groups in accordance with the Department of Early Education and Childhood Development Maternal and Child Health Program Standards.
* Work with vulnerable families identified as experiencing parenting difficulties or where the child or parent has special needs or a disability.
* Assess the safety and wellbeing of children.
* Follow the recommended schedule for Maternal and Child health key ages and stages.
* Provide support, resourcing, consultation and program development advice as part of a team.
* Promote immunisation during consultations or home visits.
* Identify and refer to other services to best meet the needs of the family and advocate on behalf of the parent or child as required.
* Participate in ongoing service evaluation and research to ensure that services meet emerging needs.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records in both the Child Development Information System and ensure all documentation is completed within the given timeframe.
About You
You're a compassionate and experienced nurse who thrives working with families and children, particularly in complex or vulnerable situations. You bring a strong understanding of child development, safety and wellbeing, and are confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Key Selection Criteria
* Maternal and Child Health qualification, current practising certificate and appropriate experience in the field of Maternal and Child Health or Enhanced Maternal and Child Health.
* Minimum 2 years' experience post Maternal & Child Health qualifications.
* Demonstrated knowledge and skills related to the identification, assessment and intervention needs of high-risk families, including knowledge of the needs of a low socio-economic and culturally and linguistically diverse community.
* Specialised knowledge of women's health, infant nutrition, child health, mental health child development and behaviour, crisis intervention and family violence.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders and contribute effectively to the team.
* Excellent skills in documentation of casework and accurate compilation of statistical data.
* Well-developed interpersonal communication skills, including basic counselling skills; the capacity to relate effectively with families from a wide range of backgrounds within the community; and the ability to deal with crisis situations and negotiate to resolve problems.
