About the role
Boeing's Helicopter Aircrew System (HATS) is a world-leading training program that is preparing the Australian Defence Force's next generation of helicopter aircrew for future combat and humanitarian missions.
BDA is seeking a Senior Technical Officer - Structural/Mechanical to join our Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS) Program based at Swartz Barracks, Oakey, QLD.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of Army rotary-wing aircraft systems and sustainment support, and who is looking to contribute to the continued airworthiness and operational capability of the EC-135 helicopter fleet. You will play a key role in supporting the training and continuation flying requirements of the Australian Army.
As a Senior Technical Officer - Structural/Mechanical, you will work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team to support the HATS EC-135 fleet.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Responding to technical queries raised by maintenance and support staff.
* Providing a conduit between the EC-135 maintenance team and engineering support.
* Conducting technical analysis, flight safety reviews, investigations and developing modifications and repairs related to aircraft structural, mechanical and propulsion systems.
* Analyzing structural and engine data in support of the structural integrity program.
* Interpreting technical information (TI) and generating requisite engineering outputs.
* Conducting technical investigations.
* Assessing and amending aviation publications and instructions; and
* Generating and maintaining solutions to ensure our fleet's airworthiness in the Defence Aviation Safety Regulation (DASR) environment.
Skills & Experience
* Qualifications in engineering or equivalent technical experience within a Structural/Mechanical discipline, e.g. Cert IV in Aviation or equivalent.
* Ability to work autonomously and remain focused with minimal supervision.
* Demonstrated experience working in an aviation maintenance environment.
* Strong level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements. Successful candidates must be willing to undergo the standard government vetting process (full life background check). BDA will sponsor and support this clearance.
