Bupa Baulkham Hills is a modern care home set in the heart of the Hills district, Sydney. Less than 30 minutes from Parramatta, and close to the M2, this home consists of 144 beds, with a variety of care units.

Our primary goal is placing our focus on the health, lifestyle and well‐being of our residents.

About the Role

As a Chef Manager you will work with a team of Catering assistants to lead a high functioning kitchen and catering service through the provision of quality, well presented, nutritious meals that meet Resident dining preferences and needs in a home like environment. Ensuring excellence always, whilst adhering to all related quality standards and regulations. This is a permanent full time role paying between $***** to $40 per hour.

Duties

  • Run an efficient, high‐quality dining and catering service for the residents of the care home.
  • Collaborate with the Lifestyle team to ensure all activities and events are appropriately planned and catered for.
  • Ensure any specialist resident dietary requirements are met (e.g. diabetes, weight loss or gain).
  • Prepare the main dishes for lunch and dinner.
  • Oversee the washing, preparation, and cooking of all foods, including vegetables, soups, sauces, gravies, desserts, sandwiches, salads, bread, and rolls.
  • Ensure that all meals are prepared fresh daily utilising seasonal produce.
  • Manage safe and correct processes in food purchasing, storage, handling, and preparation.
  • Implement infection control principles and practices as per infection control policies.
  • Complete paperwork promptly and correctly as per duty list and Quality Assurance Processes.
  • Identify training needs and requirements of Catering Staff – this includes changes to processes or resident requirements, introduction to new equipment safety or environmental regulations.

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is essential.
  • Aged Care / Hotel/Restaurant experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role.
  • Effective time management, organisational skills and budget management.
  • Previous experience in leading a team is desirable and managing a budget.
  • Understanding of Food Audits.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a multidisciplinary team and ability to effectively liaise with stakeholders.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and a customer service focus.
