Join McCain as the Quality Manager at our Ballarat site and play a pivotal role in ensuring the food safety and quality of our delicious Pizza & Dinner products! In this exciting leadership position, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of product quality—from raw materials through to the final product—driving excellence in everything we make. With end-to-end accountability for food safety processes, your expertise will shape best practices, safeguard our reputation, and deliver on our high standards across the site. You’ll develop and inspire your team through hands‑on training, performance management, and by acting as a trusted mentor to line staff, helping to build a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and outstanding quality. What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead food safety and quality management across Pizza and Dinner production facilities at the Ballarat site, ensuring compliance with all internal and external standards.
- Oversee daily activities of both direct and indirect quality personnel, as well as participate as a member of the Prepared Foods Senior Leadership Team.
- Drive a positive culture of quality and food safety, championing continuous improvement and achievement throughout the site.
- Serve as HACCP team leader for Prepared Foods, ensuring best practice risk assessments and compliance.
- Manage the integrity of raw material inputs, as well as hold and release processes, to maintain stringent food safety and quality outcomes.
- Support sanitation, cleaning, and integrated pest management programmes to exceed regulatory and site standards.
- Administer key certification and compliance programmes, including GFSI, HACCP, FSV, KEFSQ, RSPO, ALDI, MSA, and MSC, along with routine GMP and AIBI inspections.
- Oversee the site sensory program, including staff calibration for accurate product evaluation.
- Build and execute strategies to achieve food safety and quality KPIs, reduce complaints, and support new product development initiatives.
- Mentor and develop the quality team, ensuring capability growth; provide clear reporting and engage key stakeholders on site performance.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing Food Manufacturing Quality and Food Safety Systems.
- Proven people leadership, including supervision, team development, and mentoring.
- Strong background in food safety programs such as HACCP, GFSI, and AIBI.
- Familiarity with major customer standards (Coles, Aldi, Woolworths).
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Food Science) preferred.
- Demonstrates robust teamwork, relationship-building, and collaboration skills.
- Motivated leader with outstanding organisational abilities, adaptable to change, and skilled at influencing outcomes.
- Excellent communicator with a proactive approach to driving continuous improvement.
- Understands and exemplifies McCain Leadership Principles in day-to-day work.
