Role Overview
The Access and Public Engagement Branch serves as the public face of National Archives, delivering services including description, examination, and reference and research services, exhibition, education, publishing, websites, marketing, and events nationally.
Description at item level provides a foundation for operational delivery including storage, lending, retrieval, reference services, access examination, public programs, digitisation, and preservation.
This leadership role supports staff undertaking archival description and involves being agile and responsive to work priorities.
* Leadership experience in collection description activities and strategic projects is required.
* Proven ability to implement work plans, set tasks and priorities, manage workflows, and allocate resources.
* Experience leading teams and ensuring quality outputs through policy development and specialist procedures.
* Expertise in best practice description and complex description activities.
* Mentoring and training new staff to achieve individual and team performance goals.
* Leading staff engagement in change agendas and contributing to business improvements through critical analysis.
* Effective relationship management with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organisational objectives.
* Coordinating statistical reports to inform business decisions.
