The Strategic Communication & Engagement (SCE) branch is responsible for the department's corporate communications, sponsorship and events, media and social media. Services provided by SCE ensures that the department has a strategic corporate communications framework and consistent approach to engaging with schools, members of the community, the media, business, and other government agencies.
**About the Role**:Reporting to the Director, Public Affairs you will**:
- Support the preparation of speeches, media releases, correspondence and materials for the Minister and Director General and for departmental and mainstream publications
- Engage with key internal stakeholders to support the timely delivery of products and materials
- Support the Director to lead the Public Affairs Unit and meet its delivery expectations.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Research, write and edit a range of communication materials including speeches, media releases, media responses and articles as well as contributions to departmental publications.
- Work closely with departmental officers, to gain appropriate approvals for materials within tight deadlines.
- Prepare, distribute, coordinate and promote departmental news and events via various channels and media including print, web, radio, TV and multimedia.
- Provide policy advice and assistance in implementing communications strategies, involving identifying and understanding client expectations and offering strategic public affairs advice that takes into consideration possible media implications.
- Ensure liaison and consultation with key stakeholders.
**About You**:
You will be an enthusiastic and dynamic communications professional with:
- An understanding of compelling story-telling and news values
- An understanding of, or capacity to learn, the political and sector environment
- Strong organisation and administrative skills, and capacity to learn the department's recording keeping tools
- Demonstrated experience in a similar fast-paced role
