The Best Western Hobart is ideally located centrally in Hobart's city. The delicious Embers Bar-Pizza-Grill restaurant on site offers farm to table Tasmanian produce and seafood. Additionally there are 6 meetings rooms catering up to 300 people for functions and events.
Best Western Plus Launceston is ideally located in the heart of Launceston – offering a wide range of spacious and comforting rooms to cater to every need – whether this be a relaxing retreat or a business meeting. The hotel boasts an iconic in-house restaurant which features a Circa 1911 Launceston Tram.
We are offering a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, to be the Sales and Marketing Manager in the most beautiful location, Tasmania.
About the role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development, implementation and execution of critical sales and marketing strategies in line with the hotel's business plans to enhance product position and to achieve revenue targets across the departments.
As a critical member of the hotel's Executive Management Team, the successful candidate will have a proven track record and possess the skills, ability and drive to achieve the goals and targets in all sales activities. Furthermore, set to deliver increased market share, and increased revenue through a planned approach. Your corporate sales background will be paramount in leveraging all available opportunities.
The position will be based in Hobart, however, will require travel to our Launceston property, Best Western Plus Launceston and other areas of the state as part of the sale process. An autonomous role where you will be in control of scheduling and planning your days and weeks to ensure you maximise opportunities.
Current or previous experience within the Tasmanian accommodation market would be considered a strong and distinct advantage.
The role:
* Comprehensive understanding of the regional Corporate, Leisure and MICE markets
* Exceptional sales skills with a passion for developing, nurturing and growing relationships with existing and potential new customers for the hotel and conferencing and events
* Requalifying of accounts with evaluation
* Cold calling new accounts, a B2B sales calls
* Nurture and cultivate strong partnerships with established companies and clients, guaranteeing their loyalty and driving substantial growth in revenue and market share
* Analyse market insights to identify opportunities, map the market and individual organisations, including competitor activities.
* Networking to increase market share and industry / competitor intel
* The ability to produce sales activity reports and to perform marketplace analysis to identify and target possible business opportunities
* Strong decision-making skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Drive and maintain strong community relationships and be a respected industry ambassador for the hotel and the Best Western brand
* Develop and maintain relationships with existing companies / clients, ensuring retention and revenue/market share growth
* Conduct site inspections for a variety of clients
* Strategic skills to assist with the development and implementation of marketing plans across all departments
* Develop and execute sales and marketing advertising and promotional activities that enhance product position of the hotel
* Assist to develop and execute social media strategies to increase brand awareness
* Create and schedule engaging content for social media platforms to brand standards
* Execute the weekly & monthly content calendar
Skills & responsibilities:
* An understanding of hotel, conference and event operations is an advantage
* Previous business development experience is desirable
* Previous experience in Social Media co-ordination is essential
* Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships
* Demonstrated ability to analyse and action sales performance
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Passion and experience in creating social media content
* Self-motivated with effective time management and organisational skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft 365 including Word, Excel and Outlook
