Our
**Federal Government** client is seeking to engage an
**APS6 Government Relations Officer** on a contract for 12 months with potential extension in their fantastically located Richmond or Geelong office.
**About the Role**
The
**APS6 Government Relations Officer** will connect internal and external stakeholders and play a key role in providing quality and timely reporting on matters related to engagement with Commonwealth, State and Territory officials and other external governance bodies.
The position has reasonable autonomy and accountability to exercise both initiative and judgement to contribute to the implementation of strategic change projects within the organisation and support the development of major programs agreed at relevant internal and external government forums.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Develop and manage project plans for jurisdictional governance meetings and events in accordance with the Agency's project management framework
- Provide specialist advice and technical expertise to staff and stakeholders
- Perform independent research work and analysis including the preparation of draft reports, including on relevant governance activities
- Coordinate regular governance project reporting including status updates
- Prepare draft written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation
- Contribute to project quality management of governance tasks to ensure that deliverables are fit for purpose and meet client needs
- Maintain the register of actions, issues and risks arising from trilateral forums and prepare progress reports for the senior executive.
- Analyse information from a variety of sources to identify and monitor emerging themes relevant to the work of the organisation or its participation in the intergovernmental forums.
- Proven experience in public sector within a Government relations or similar role
- Demonstrated ability to deliver outcomes, assisting in strategic planning, program and project management
- Ability to manage conflicting priorities and reliably deliver on time in a complex environment
- Ability to make sound judgements through research and analysis, making decisions that involve complex or escalated issues
- Ability to prepare project artefacts and other relevant documentation, such as briefs, talking points, reports, business cases
