Preventative Education Coordinator – University of Sydney

This role offers a base salary of $126,065 per year (fixed term until 27 October ****) plus 17% superannuation.
About the opportunity
As the Preventative Education Coordinator you will lead and oversee the development, design, delivery, and assessment of preventive education and compliance training for university staff and students.
You will collaborate closely with the Manager, Safer Communities, to promote positive wellbeing outcomes among students and staff.
You will contribute to campus safety training programs that target student and staff engagement, covering:
Sexual Harm
Gender-based Violence
Consent
Modern Slavery Awareness
Ethical Bystander training
First responder training
Other responsibilities include overseeing campus wellbeing events, training programmes, and activities, fostering a high-performing team culture through effective staff management practices, resource planning, and performance monitoring.
Key responsibilities
Work within a dynamic team, reporting to the Manager, Safer Communities
Plan and manage delivery of services that form part of the university's strategic action plan on preventative education, including compliance with the National Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based violence
Lead an effective and high-performing team, ensuring service standards and performance measures are met
Plan and allocate staff resources
Proactively manage data gathering, reporting, and compliance requirements for the Safer Communities Office
Actively monitor and report on the delivery of preventative education services and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Ensure effective collaboration between staff in the work area and other groups within the university and key external stakeholders
Qualifications and experience
Postgraduate qualifications in psychology, social work, human rights or a related field coupled with relevant experience
A strong understanding of university organisational structures and processes; ability to provide advice to senior staff and report to governance and management bodies
Experience developing strategies for implementing and providing proactive health promotion, gender equality, gender-based violence prevention, and related education and compliance training
Understanding/experience of elements of student development, wellbeing issues for students, and principles of student success
Demonstrated high-level project management skills, including managing multiple projects, prioritising, and meeting timelines in a complex environment characterised by competing demands
Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating training, workshops and events
Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory obligations affecting students with mental health and wellbeing issues
Work rights and sponsorship
You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
Pre-employment checks
Employment is conditional upon the completion of all required pre-employment or background checks satisfactory to the university.
Ongoing employment is conditional upon maintaining all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
As this position involves child-related work, a Working with Children Check clearance is required in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act ****.
