About the role
As P&N Group's Corporate Counsel, you will provide day to day support and legal advice to senior management and business units. Reporting to the Principal Legal Counsel, you will have ownership of delivering timely and commercially focussed legal advice across the full legal portfolio of the P&N Group, in order to protect P&N Group's legal and business interests. This role can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis.
Working as part of an inclusive and collaborative team your key responsibilities will include:
* Operating as a trusted advisor to the organisation, provide legal advice across the full spectrum of law under which P&N Group operates, including the Corporations Act, Australian Consumer Credit Laws, National Consumer Credit Protection Act, Privacy Act, Property & PPSR Laws, Fair Work & HR Laws, AML/CTF Law, and the APRA and ASIC regulatory environments.
* Review and assist with a wide range of documentation including product terms and conditions, marketing materials, internal policies and procedures, and disclosure documents.
* Assist the Procurement Team, Cyber Team and contract owners with the management of contracts across the contract lifecycle including vendor due diligence, tenders, drafting and negotiation, renewals, and dispute resolution.
* Assist in the management of external legal providers to ensure the provision of effective advice and support while maintaining positive ongoing relationships and controlling external legal spend.
* Monitor the regulatory environment and provide proactive advice and direction to assist the P&N Group mitigate emerging risk and identify opportunities in a changing regulatory and commercial environment.
What will you bring?
* Experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including IT/SAAS contracts, procurement contracts, service agreements, and NDAs.
* Working knowledge of law applicable to the financial industry, including APRA's prudential standards, the consumer credit regime, AML/CTF regime, the Customer Owned Banking Code of Practice, and Privacy is highly desirable.
* Exposure to the finance/banking industry and associated regulatory environment would be highly valued but not essential.
* General corporate/commercial experience would be valued, as would experience in IT law, litigation, financing, procurement, or property law.
* Skilled at building and deepening strong relationships and influencing at a senior level, as a trusted advisor.
* Ability to communicate legal concepts in a commercially focused and pragmatic manner across all levels of an organisation.
* An understanding of how risk management, risk analysis, and corporate governance frameworks apply in a commercial setting.
* Adept at managing competing priorities and able to produce consistently excellent quality work in a timely manner, both on an individual basis and as part of a team.
* Minimum 3 years PQE experience required.
* Bachelor of Laws or recognised law degree from an Australian university or another common law jurisdiction; and
* Unrestricted current Western Australia practicing certificate.
