We're seeking a skilled
Manager – Communication and Marketing
to lead all communications and marketing for a small, passionate NFP membership-based organisation advancing environmental outcomes across Australasia. You'll be the organisation's voice, overseeing corporate communications, technical writing, and marketing campaigns — and ensuring every piece of content is clear, compelling, and tailored to the audience.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role that combines strategic oversight with execution. You'll guide the work of a Marketing & Communications Coordinator, support members and committees, and ensure all copy - from event promotions to policy submissions - resonates with the right audience, achieving the desired outcome – whether that's conversion or connection.
The Opportunity
As
Manager – Communication and Marketing
, you'll:
* Shape the organisation's voice across corporate, technical, and marketing communications.
* Utilise strong understanding of copywriting principles to write compelling copy that sells value and is tailored to the relevant audience and desired outcomes.
* Lead content for membership campaigns, events (including webinars and conferences), committees, and governance communications.
* Provide strategic marketing leadership to drive key outcomes including: membership acquisition, membership retention, and event revenue growth.
* Oversee all event-related copy, from advertising and slides to registration materials, while delegating operational scheduling to the coordinator.
* Work with technical teams to turn complex subject matter into accessible, compelling communications.
* Contribute to website redevelopment and marketing strategy using data to inform customer journeys, content placement, and audience engagement.
* Use AI tools effectively to support writing and editing, while maintaining rigorous editorial standards.
* Serve on the leadership team, representing the
voice of the customer/member
in organisational decision-making.
About You
You're an exceptional writer with a natural ability to frame messages around
audience benefit
, not just features. You know how to turn technical or policy content into clear, persuasive copy that converts. You combine strategic marketing instincts with hands-on execution and can guide a small team effectively.
You'll bring:
* Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in marketing, communications, journalism, or PR.
* 5+ years' experience in communications and/or marketing, ideally in a B2C capacity within membership organisation, association, or professional services contexts.
* Proven ability to write benefit-focused copy across formats/channels - web, emails, events, reports, corporate comms.
* Familiarity with CRM or marketing automation platforms, digital analytics, and audience segmentation.
* Experience or curiosity with AI tools to support copywriting, with the judgment to refine outputs.
* Strong collaboration skills and diplomacy to work with volunteers, committees, and small internal teams.
Desirable:
* Experience with iMIS or Higher Logic.
* Background in environmental, sustainability, or policy contexts.
* Experience managing staff or coordinating volunteers.
