Transforming Young Lives: Psychologist - Early Childhood and Families Service

The Early Childhood team Psychologist is an integral part of the Child Development Services Unit working alongside Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists and Therapeutic Care Staff, providing assessment and therapeutic developmental services to children 0-4 years and their families in the Southern metropolitan region of Adelaide. Individual, joint and group work is offered. Supportive clinical supervision, sustainable workload and welcoming experienced team of Psychologists are highlights of this position. Opportunities for movement within the broader SALHN Women's and Children's Allied Health may be available.
This is a highly rewarding and fulfilling role within a close-knit team of highly experienced Allied Health professionals. This position is based at the Noarlunga Health Precinct adjacent Noarlunga GP Plus. One day per week at Aldinga GP+ is also required as an outreach service on a Tuesday.

About the role:

Reporting to the Allied Health Service Manager, some of your duties for the role will include:

* Providing accurate assessment and evaluation of clients with a range of developmental delays by using standardised and informal assessment tools and interpreting results from these assessments to form an accurate understanding of the issues arising for the child and their family
* Maintain required statistics, and the accurate documentation of interaction with clients in accordance with agency requirements
* Utilising professional skills and judgement in the provision of a consultative service to team members and other local agencies regarding management of young children and their families
* Providing training and consultation to other staff members, other agencies and community groups

About you:

* Demonstrated ability to relate well to, work with and support children 6 weeks to school age and their families from various cultures and backgrounds, often in complex vulnerable families
* Ability to efficiently use patient record systems and office software
* Experience with using video based therapeutic approaches
* Previous experience working with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds; people with mental illness, disabilities or other vulnerable groups
* Ability to implement a broad range of Psychology assessments and interventions and make complex clinical decisions
