The Opportunity
We are seeking a Hi-Rail Excavator Operator to join our rail crew. This is a full-time, permanent role working on projects statewide. Prior railway experience is not required — full training will be provided for applicants with proven excavator skills. This role is ideal for experienced civil operators wanting to expand into the rail industry.
What You'll Do
* Operate excavators for rail construction and maintenance activities.
* Assist with hi-rail plant operations as required.
* Work closely with supervisors and crew members to deliver safe, efficient outcomes.
* Maintain compliance with WHS, environmental, and quality procedures.
* Support teamwork and contribute to a positive site culture.
Essential Requirements
* WHS Construction Induction Card (White Card).
* Minimum 3 years' experience operating excavators.
* Current driver's licence and reliable transport.
* Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and a can-do attitude.
Desirable Requirements
* Previous rail industry experience.
* Machine Operator Tickets and/or VOCs.
* MR Truck Licence (or willingness to obtain).
* First Aid & CPR training.

Important Information
This role involves statewide rail project work across Tasmania, including the ability to stay away from home for periods of time as required. Shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a pre-employment medical and Rail-specific CAT 1 medical, including drug & alcohol screening.
