The University of Western Australia (UWA) invites applications for the role of Museum Curator in its Earth and Oceans School. This is a full‑time, fixed‑term appointment of 3 years, with a base salary of $104,243–$115,661 per annum plus 17% superannuation.
About The Area
The School of Earth and Oceans encompasses a broad range of Earth Science disciplines (geoscience, hydrogeology, geodata analytics, oceanography), coastal and ocean engineering, and focuses on research‑led teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Our location in Western Australia, with its ancient geological record and magnificent coastline, offers tremendous opportunities for both terrestrial and marine field‑based teaching and learning.
About The Opportunity
- Curate research materials in the collections using modern museum approaches and maintain and develop the Earth Science Museum.
- Work with staff and students to ensure curation of samples related to student theses and publications.
- Play a role in outreach and important opportunities to showcase UWA science.
- Develop digital interactive elements to further promote earth sciences to the wider community.
About You
- Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
- Substantial relevant experience in curation at an appropriate level.
- Proficiency in computing skills including digitisation and management system software (e.g., Emu).
- Ability to supervise staff, volunteers and WIL students.
- Demonstrated ability in implementing a range of policies and procedures to support teaching and research from a scientific perspective.
Note
A current National Police Clearance Certificate and Working with Children Check will be required for the successful applicant.
