**Position Information**:
Granville East Public School, enrolment 270 students, 96% speak English as an additional language/dialect, is a vibrant community school in Western Sydney which proudly thrives on Dharug Land. A strong culture of explicit teaching, student inquiry and positive behaviours for learning support the educational, social and emotional wellbeing of our community. Staff work collaboratively in small teaching teams and leaders are responsible for curriculum and wellbeing outcomes. We are a well-resourced school with both traditional and alternative learning spaces including an outdoor learning space, vegetable garden and yarning circle. At GEPS, everyone from the youngest student to the principal is a learner.
The English as an additional language or dialect (EAL/D) Team works collaboratively across the school, moving fluidly between the K-2 team and the 3-6 team to provide both small group and whole class support. As we have a high number of new arrival students, the EAL/D teacher will be required to withdraw students to provide functional English Language support. The successful applicant will need to work as an integral member of the learning and support team as well as take initiative to work independently.
**Selection Criteria**:
1. Approval to teach primary English as a second language or currently completing or currently enrolled in an approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a second language primary as recognised by the NSW Department of Education.
2. An understanding of trauma informed care to support students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
3. The capacity to improve student outcomes across a school serving a low SES, high EAL/D community.
4.The ability to upskill and motivate colleges to implement EALD strategies in daily classroom practice.

If applicable engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the approved post graduate qualification for teaching English as a Second Language primary as recognised by the NSW Department of Education, which must be completed within 12 months.
