We are currently looking for a Full Time AV and Technology Specialist to ensure that all audio, visual, and lighting systems operate seamlessly to create professional, engaging, and memorable experiences for audiences and participants.
Role And Responsibilities
The Audio Visual and Technology Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality technical support across both the school's events and performance programs and its Technology Service Desk.
The position focuses on event and performance technology, providing expert technical support to the school's co-curricular, performing arts, and community programs. This includes preparing, operating and maintaining the AV and lighting systems used in assemblies, productions, ceremonies, and special events.
In parallel, the role acts as a first point of contact for IT-related queries, offering Level 1 and Level 2 service desk support through troubleshooting hardware and software issues, maintaining student laptops, and ensuring that technology requests are resolved efficiently.
Working closely with the Head of Technology, Information Technology Team, Performing Arts and Community teams, and Junior and Senior Education teams, the Audio Visual and Technology Specialist contributes to the planning, setup, technical execution, and operational reliability of events and IT services across the school. The role requires a proactive, hands-on approach, ensuring that AV systems and IT support processes are reliable, safe, and able to deliver exceptional results for the school community.
The position also plays a key role in the ongoing maintenance, documentation, and improvement of both AV and IT systems. Through effective collaboration, clear communication, and a commitment to technical and service excellence, the Audio Visual and Technology Specialist supports Toorak College's vision of providing outstanding learning, performance, and community experiences.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
Certificate IV or Diploma in Audio Visual Technology (or equivalent experience).
Certificate III, IV or Diploma in Information Technology (or equivalent experience).
Working with Children Check (mandatory).
Experience providing Level 1 & 2 IT and AV support in an education or customer-focused environment.
Experience supporting AV systems such as Dante and QSYS Control and AVoIP protocols
Understanding of Windows, macOS, iPadOS and classroom device environments.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and common educational applications.
Basic understanding of MDM platforms (Apple School Manager, Intune).
Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technology to non-technical users.
Demonstrated experience in providing technical support for live events and performances, including setup, operation, and pack-down of audio, visual, and lighting systems.
Strong practical knowledge of sound, lighting, and video equipment, including digital audio mixers, microphones, amplifiers, projectors, switchers, and lighting consoles.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve AV and lighting issues quickly and effectively during live operation.
Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate multiple events simultaneously.
High attention to detail and a commitment to achieving professional technical outcomes.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in high-pressure and dynamic environments such as performances and large gatherings.
Willingness and flexibility to work outside regular hours to support evening and weekend events.
