The Team:
The position is embedded within the Devonport Continuing Care Team, part of Statewide and Mental Health Services.

* This lived-experience workforce role supports families and carers of mental health service users, drawing on the Peer Worker's own journey through mental illness, service use, recovery, or healing.
* A dynamic, supportive multidisciplinary team working with adult consumers and their families in the Devonport region of Tasmania.
* Implements contemporary practices focusing on long-term treatment, coordinated care, community rehabilitation, and skill building.
* Collaborates closely across all areas of mental health and primary health sectors.

The Role:
The Family/Carer Peer Worker is a direct support role from the perspective of the family/carer's personal experience of supporting individuals with mental ill-health.

You will need to:

* Provide support to families and carers of people receiving support from public mental health services, in identifying appropriate supports (community resources and services) and ensuring families and carers are aware of their rights and responsibilities.
* Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and participate in discussions with a focus on family/carer rights and responsibilities, quality improvement initiatives, planning and problem solving in line with mental health and recovery frameworks.
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and relevant Lived Experience networks.

Details of appointment:
Permanent part time, day worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary:
$67,193 to $72,126 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

* Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.

Salary Packaging:
You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

* Current Driver's Licence
* Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

* Experience of supporting someone (family or friend) through mental health challenges, service use, periods of healing/personal recovery
* Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, or willingness to work towards same
