Brief Description
The Back Dock Champion reports to the Store Manager. This role is classified as Level 2 or 3 in the GRA and usually requires a forklift licence.
In the absence of the Store Manager the Back Dock Champion reports to the ASM Assistant Store Manager.
The Back Dock Champion is responsible for all deliveries/goods that come into the store and the associated paperwork. He is also responsible for the standards of the warehouse area and the security at the back door. In cases where the Back Dock Champion and the Assistant Store Manager cannot agree on a problem or disciplinary procedure, the Store Manager will make the decision.
OBJECTIVES
* Maintain the security of the back dock in all circumstances.
* Help develop, lead, and motivate a capable team of store staff of the highest quality and standard to maintain a high standard of warehouse at all times.
* Minimise costs by tightly controlling inventory losses, quality of contractor work, minimising staff turnover and maximising productivity.
* Ensure all equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, trolleys, ladders, etc are maintained to ensure safe to use.
* Ensure everyone is safe so there are no injuries.
* Use initiative to control, manage and continually improve the quality of work in the areas of responsibility.
* Be a constructive team member in the store.
Requirements
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Ensure accurate inventory by ensuring all incoming and outgoing goods have the correct paperwork and are checked off in a prompt and friendly manner.
* Promptly scan and store Paperwork in Department trays for updating.
* Immediately report any missing paperwork and assist the ASM / Department Champion to obtain.
* Ensure all stock is present and not damaged and notify the relevant person to ensure the issue/claim has been made.
* Ensure the warehouse is swept/cleaned as required to maintain a high standard.
* Ensure pallets are consolidated up and stock is rowed up to ensure all stock can be reached if required.
* Wrap all pallets to be stored above head height to ensure nothing can fall on staff.
* Ensure all Routine Cards are followed by the Store Team.
* Communicate to the Store Manager all incidents, damages, operational problems, or suggestions.
* Has access to back dock door code/ key to ensure door is open only during a delivery, otherwise door must always be closed and staff must enter and exit store by front door only.
* At times, may be asked to check off all waste into bins and record correctly.
* Ensure that the correct stocktake/stock adjustment process is occurring for all stock, accurate receival of goods and accurate updating of invoices to give an accurate inventory.
* Ensure information essential for Team Members to carry out their responsibilities is communicated to them.
* Ensure all controls, policies, and procedures (e.g., WH&S, Employee Handbook, Product Recall, Food Safety, Due Diligence, Handling of Payments etc) are followed.
* Perform any alternative tasks as specified by the Store Manager/ASM as required.
