Senior Estimator – Commercial
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Estimator to join our growing team, specialising in commercial projects. This is a pivotal role responsible for leading the end-to-end tendering process and delivering accurate, strategic, and competitive estimates.
Working closely with Sales, Projects and Operations, you will play a critical role in securing major commercial work and ensuring a seamless transition from tender through to project delivery. This position suits someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings strong commercial acumen and technical expertise.
About you
To succeed in this role, you will be a proactive and motivated professional with a strong background in commercial estimating within the building and construction industry. You bring a high level of attention to detail, strong technical capability, and the ability to manage multiple complex tenders with confidence.
You will bring:
* Proven experience in commercial estimating within construction, glass, aluminium, or a related industry
* Minimum 4-5 years of commercial estimating experience is required
* Strong ability to read and interpret complex plans, specifications, and contract documentation
* Solid knowledge of the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards
* Experience with V6 software
* Strong commercial acumen, including pricing strategy, cost planning, and risk assessment
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* A collaborative mindset with leadership capability and a willingness to mentor others
* Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end tendering process for major commercial projects
* Produce accurate, strategic, and competitive cost estimates aligned with business objectives
* Analyse drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to identify risks and opportunities
* Develop innovative pricing strategies and value engineering solutions to enhance project competitiveness
* Conduct detailed cost planning, feasibility assessments, and budget forecasting
* Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to secure best-value outcomes
* Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, consultants, and key stakeholders
* Provide expert commercial insight and reporting to senior leadership
* Oversee multiple high-value tenders simultaneously, ensuring quality and timely submissions
* Prepare detailed take-offs, quotations, tenders, and variations with a high level of accuracy
* Collaborate with Team to ensure a seamless transition from tender to delivery
* Ensure all estimates comply with the National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards
* Mentor and develop, fostering a high-performance team culture
* Drive continuous improvement across estimating systems, processes, and methodologies
* Stay informed on market trends, pricing movements, and industry developments
