Support Worker Job Description

This role involves supporting people in their homes and within the community to help them live their best lives. Our goal is to enable people with disabilities to fulfill their goals and dreams.
In this position, you will provide support within our home service, assisting people with disabilities to live as independently as possible. You may work with individuals who have complex needs or require additional support at home.
Key Responsibilities:
* Helping individuals achieve their National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) goals by developing important daily skills such as housekeeping, personal care, social skills, and budgeting.
* Assisting with aspects of personal care where required to meet the individual needs of the people we support.
* Supporting with meal planning, cooking, light cleaning, and facilitating community connection by socializing and going on outings.
* Providing support during daily activities such as going for a walk, going to the movies, or accompanying someone to an appointment.
* Helping individuals maintain a connection to their family, friends, and services.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:
* A Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) would be beneficial, but it's not essential.
* Experience working with people with disabilities, particularly those with complex behaviors, is highly regarded.
* You should be a true people person, passionate, patient, empathetic, and resilient.
* You should be dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to live their best lives.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including days, evenings, early mornings, weekends, and sleepovers, is necessary.
* You should have the capacity to meet the physical requirements of the role, as some manual handling tasks may be involved.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* Commitment to privacy and confidentiality.
* Good computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications.
