Currently, there are around 5.5 million Australians with a disability. The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 717,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. For many Australians, this will be the first time they receive the disability support they need. The NDIA is designed to enhance the quality of life and increase economic and social participation for people with disability and will mean a peace of mind for every Australian.

A new role awaits

We have an incredible opportunity for a Planner Supervisor to join our VIC TAS Regional Services Team. The APS6 Planner Supervisor - VIC TAS Regional Services is a team leadership position within the NDIA and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across a range of activities. You will provide the leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the Team Membership within the position’s assigned Work Area and in a virtual environment.

As an APS6 Planner Supervisor, you will lead a high-performing team, manage priorities and workflows, and provide expert advice across technical, policy, and operational areas. You will play a key role in strategic planning, program delivery, and policy development to support the NDIA’s mission.

This role involves significant public engagement, including complex and sensitive participant matters. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensure compliance with legislative frameworks, and contribute to performance targets under the Participant Service Guarantee.

- Leading and managing team operations aligned with strategic goals.
- Communicating with participants and representatives to support decision-making.
- Reviewing and monitoring participant plans and outcomes.
- Resolving participant issues and complaints.
- Ensuring quality and compliance across all planning activities.

You as the APS6 Planner Supervisor will be accountable under limited direction to undertake complex work that is guided by legislation, policies and procedures.

- A positive contemporary attitude to people with disability, a high level of disability awareness and an understanding of the impact this may have for individuals.
- Experience with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples (highly desirable)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to develop and maintain networks.
- Experience in managing a high-performance team.

This role is performed from VIC - Bentleigh and VIC - Berwick only. We intend to fill this role in an ongoing capacity, however non-ongoing roles up to 12 months with the possibility of extension up to 2 years may be offered.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
