**Our journey**
The **Victorian Heart Hospital** will be Australia's first dedicated heart hospital and is nearing its final stages of construction. It will include a full range of ambulatory and inpatient cardiac care, including cardiac theatres, cardiac catheterisation laboratories, emergency, intensive care, and ambulatory services such as cardiac CT, echocardiography and specialist consultation. It will also feature a unique, patient centred model of care. The Victorian Heart Hospital will also play a key role in advancing research and teaching and will be home to the Victorian Heart Institute, a brand new, health and medical research organisation at Monash University.

**Cardiac Emergency Services Victorian Heart Hospital**
As the first dedicated **cardiac emergency service** in Australia with state of the art 22 bed capacity, yours is a pivotal front-line role providing cardiac care within a dynamic fast paced setting. You will have the opportunity to be an integral member of the part of a newly built cardiac emergency service that will deliver patient centred emergency care with access to cardiac care specialists.

**Full/Part-time Ongoing** **positions available **up to 8 days per fortnight, morning shift 0700-1530 and afternoon 1030-1900 with potential to work only afternoons if desired. Unit open on Saturday mornings and closed Saturday afternoon and Sundays**
**What you bring**
The **Ward Clerk** is a key role within the Unit, providing customer focused service to patients and their families. Working in a busy, team-based environment, the **Ward Clerk** provides efficient and effective clerical support to the clinical ward staff. The **Ward Clerk** contributes to optimum patient care and actively contributes to the functioning of the unit. You are passionate about helping others, especially in a challenging situation, is what drives you to provide exceptional support to our patients and their families. As the first point contact for many of our patients when they attend our unit, a welcoming manner with clear communication skills combined with empathy and patience is essential for this role.
No two days will be the same and you'll be part of a passionate team at Australia's only dedicated heart hospital, providing faster access to **emergency critical care** and highly skilled staff when they need it most.
Working closely with a passionate **emergency cardiac** team, you also bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:
- previous experience greeting and attending to patients in person or by telephone
- ability to record information accurately and in a timely manner including registering patient information, admissions, discharges and booking interpreters and transport
- sound computer skills to undertake a variety of clerical tasks including Medicare billing for outpatient clinics
- excellent customer services skills and ability to remain calm and helpful in a challenging or changing environment.
- attention to detail coupled with ability to priority competing tasks and deadlines
- able to work autonomously as well as part of a wider multidisciplinary team
