Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Business Area: Sales and Client Service. Role: Enterprise Sales - Index Sales Specialist, Asset Managers - Sydney. This is a highly visible role within Bloomberg, involving strategy shaping, senior level relationship management, and in-depth discussions on Bloomberg index methodology and product development. The position is based in Sydney with coverage across Australasia, including New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
What’s the role?
Index Sales Specialists are responsible for new business development in addition to maintaining existing client relationships for Bloomberg Index solutions. As the Australasia Index Sales Specialist for Investment Managers, you will position, demonstrate and license Bloomberg’s fixed income, equity, and multi-asset class index solutions to prospective customers and to existing Investment Managers across financial institutions in the territory. You will work closely with the regional sales team to drive wider adoption and penetration of Bloomberg Indices in this client segment across Asia Pacific.
This role includes all aspects of indices related engagements, including data subscriptions, customization, and asset-based licensing. Close collaboration and strong communication with global sales, client services and support teams, research, marketing, product management are required to deliver optimal solutions to customers in the region.
Responsibilities
- Build senior level relationships with top institutional investment firms worldwide
- Achieve annual sales and revenue targets across the index solutions product suite
- Leverage market experience and industry knowledge throughout the sales process from awareness to contract execution
- Lead in-depth discussions on Bloomberg index methodology and new product requirements
- Produce clear, concise proposals detailing client needs, workflows, proposed solutions, and commercial terms
- Lead internal and external training sessions and sales pitches
- Collaborate with internal teams to cross-sell Bloomberg solutions
- Travel regularly to meet with clients and prospects
Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 5 years of client-facing experience in financial institutions (e.g., Investment Managers)
- Minimum 5 years of experience with indices in a sales and/or portfolio management capacity for Investment Managers or Financial Institutions in Australasia
- Experience leading senior-level client conversations within the ANZ Investment community (last 5 years)
- Strong commercial mindset and a track record of exceeding sales metrics
- Ability to identify new prospects and maintain client relationships
- Excellent communication skills to credibly lead senior level client conversations
- Ability to market Bloomberg products to a wide demographic of potential clients
- Self-starter, collaborative, able to multi-task
- Ability to travel regularly across ANZ
- Excellent written and verbal English communication
- Demonstrated career growth within an organization
- Bachelor’s degree or degree-equivalent qualifications
