About the role
As a Disability Support Worker, working within our Supported Independent Living homes, you'll provide person-centred support that empowers people with disability to build independence, confidence and connection. No two days are the same — one day you might be supporting someone to learn new life skills, the next helping them get out into the community or achieve a personal goal.
You'll be part of a supportive team that genuinely cares about the people we support — and about each other.
This role required availability for multiple sleepover shifts per fortnight. With options to take alternative shifts after a period of time. Permanent part time hours up to 50 per fortnight located at SIL home in Warwick, Queensland.
What you'll be doing
* Supporting people with daily living activities, personal care and routines
* Assisting clients with manual handling using hoists and slings
* Encouraging independence, choice and inclusion
* Supporting community access, social activities and wellbeing
* Building trusted relationships with clients, families and colleagues
* Maintaining safe, respectful and positive environments
What we're looking for
* A caring, patient and respectful approach
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Reliability and a positive, can-do attitude
* Availability to work a range of shifts (including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and sleepovers – penalty rates apply)
* The capacity to meet the physical requirements as manual handling tasks are involved
* A Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) is advantageous but not required
If you're new to the sector, we'll support you with training and development.
You will be required to hold or willing to obtain
* Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
* NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
* First Aid & CPR Certification
* National Criminal History Check (Police Check)
* Australian open Driver's License with comprehensive insurance on your vehicle
