Primary objective
To provide support and advice to School Operations in relation to finance, housing, procurement, administration and complaint
management and facility management of the regional office.
Context statement
School Operations provides operational advice and services to government schools, tailored to their needs and focused on supporting
their improvement agenda. School Operations ensures the implementation of NT and Commonwealth Government policies and
department strategic priorities in NT Government schools.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide operational advice to schools ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.
2. Complaint management adhering to the complaint management framework with a focus on the accurate recording of complaints and
outcome resolution.
3. Undertake projects and research issues to support continuous improvement of School Operations and the agency using effective
research and evidence-based approaches, as well as stakeholder engagement and feedback.
4. Provide administrative support to the School Operations team including the preparation of briefings, newsflashes, reports, and general
correspondence in a timely manner.
5. Support the coordination and allocation of Government Employee Housing (GEH), GEH repairs and maintenance escalations and the
deployment of domestic furniture in accordance with NT Government and departmental policy.
6. Oversee Work Health Safety requirements for the team and support emergency management responses as needed.
7. Oversee facility hire and facility management of the regional office.
8. Other duties as delegated by line management.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated high level oral, written communication and interpersonal skills including with people from diverse backgrounds, and a
proven ability to be discreet.
2. Experience working in and leading a small team in day-to-day operations and maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
3. Knowledge of skills and tools to aid the delivery of timely outcomes, manage multiple tasks and competing priorities with minimal
supervision, whilst retaining/creating a quality result.
4. Demonstrated ability to operate efficiently and reliably with minimal supervision whilst meeting deadlines, as well as making effective
use of individual and team capabilities.
5. Demonstrated experience in the management of business administration functions such as finance, procurement, administration,
complaints, infrastructure and human resource management including ability to meet changes in client needs.
6. Demonstrated sound organisational and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently, work effectively
within a team and work under pressure to complete tasks within required timeframes.
7. Experience in complaints management, dealing with conflict situations and managing confidential and sensitive information.
Further information
Positions are based in regional offices, undertaking the role remotely may be considered, however applicants may be required to travel to
the regional location with overnight stays in a range of accommodation. Experience driving a 4WD (or capacity to obtain) is required. The
successful applicant must hold a current Working with Children Clearance Notice (Ochre Card) or the ability to obtain.
