This transformation includes a major brand refresh, the launch of a new digital platform, and the introduction of a cohesive visitor experience strategy that integrates South Bank’s commercial, cultural and community dimensions. About the Role

This GM - Destination Experience & Engagement will play an integral role in translating the South Bank Master Plan into lived experience, ensuring the precinct remains energetic, inclusive and progressive. This includes working closely with other General Managers to align place, infrastructure, operations, and experience outcomes.

Reporting to the CEO this strategic leadership role will oversee marketing, communications, events, and the visitor centre to create a cohesive precinct experience that honours South Bank’s heritage while positioning it for the future.

Key areas of responsibility include:

- Developing and leading a Precinct Experience Strategy that defines how South Bank delivers memorable, high-quality, and uniquely Queensland experiences for locals and visitors.
- Championing South Bank’s tourism and visitor growth agenda, evolving the Visitor Information Centre into a vibrant and interactive hub that shapes and enhances each visitor’s journey.
- Leading brand, marketing and communication strategies that align to South Bank’s refreshed destination brand and position the precinct as Queensland’s leading destination and precinct.
- Overseeing the design and delivery of world‑class events and activations, from large scale cultural showcases to intimate community experiences, ensuring excellence in execution and impact.
- Building and strengthening partnerships with key stakeholders, including government, tourism bodies, cultural institutions, community groups, and commercial tenants, to amplify collaboration and shared value.

About You

You are a strategic, creative and people focused leader with deep expertise in destination management, tourism, events, marketing, or precinct activation. You thrive in complex environments where collaboration, vision and delivery intersect, and where community connection is as important as commercial success.

You bring:

- Extensive senior leadership experience across visitor experience, destination marketing, tourism or cultural programming.
- A proven ability to develop and deliver large scale visitor or precinct strategies that drive growth, engagement and reputation.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills, you know how to bring government, partners and community together around a shared vision.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance creativity and accountability.
- A passion for cultural diversity and authentic community engagement, ensuring South Bank remains inclusive, sustainable and proudly local.
