In the heart of Cobden is our milk powder, fresh milk and butter plants, also known as the home of Australia's favourite butter for over 90 years - Western Star. This is our largest site in Australia, which makes butter and spreads, and fresh milk for the domestic markets.
Your Purpose
As the Electrical Maintenance Supervisor, you will lead and coordinate the electrical maintenance team within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role is critical in managing and optimising workflows, ensuring effective communication, and prioritising tasks to meet both reactive maintenance demands and planned work schedules.
You will oversee the maintenance of the sites electrical systems and manufacturing equipment, ensuring operational reliability and compliance with safety and quality standards. Your leadership will drive daily operations, uphold performance benchmarks, and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
Success in this role requires a supportive and proactive leadership approach, with hands-on involvement when the electrical team needs guidance or clarification. You will foster a culture of continuous improvement by championing initiatives that refine maintenance strategies, enhance workflow efficiency, and strengthen team performance across both reactive and preventative maintenance activities. Responsibilities Include:
* Collaborate with the Maintenance Planner and Team Leaders to strategically plan and allocate trade resources in alignment with production and maintenance schedules
* Assign trade personnel to support both reactive and preventive maintenance activities, ensuring optimal resource utilization
* Provide clear and timely communication regarding the status of personnel, equipment, and ongoing work within your scope of responsibility
* Monitor the electrical team's workflow performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and driving initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
* Proactively identify potential issues within electrical systems and implement preventive maintenance strategies to mitigate risks and minimize operational disruptions
* Lead and facilitate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions for equipment breakdowns and significant failures, promoting a culture of learning and problem-solving
* Coach trade staff in assessing the condition of machinery, equipment, and infrastructure, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards
* Partner with cross-functional teams, including Production and Engineering, to coordinate maintenance activities and prioritize tasks based on operational requirements
* Manage inventory levels of spare parts, tools, and equipment to support maintenance workflows, ensuring timely procurement and availability
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of maintenance activities, including work orders, reports, and equipment history, utilizing Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
About You
We are seeking individuals with an electrical trade background, combined with proven leadership skills and the ability to effectively lead a team. This role is ideal for a seasoned electrician or electrical maintenance professional who is looking to transition away from shift work and hands-on tasks. You can also demonstrate:
* Electrical trade qualification or a background in electrical engineering is required,
* Experience in leading electrical trades,
* Strong technical knowledge and understanding of maintenance principles, practices, and equipment reliability
* Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team of technicians
* Proficient computer skills, including experience with CMMS or similar maintenance management software
