Droughtmaster Australia is a not-for-profit organisation, founded in 1962. It is a membership-based organisation servicing Australian Droughtmaster cattle breeders. Headquartered in Ipswich, Queensland, Droughtmaster Australia has recently undergone significant transformation and continues to experience rapid growth across both its membership and the national herd. Droughtmaster cattle are recognised as a highly valuable commodity within the Australian beef industry and, in 2006, the breed was acknowledged as a Queensland Icon by the National Trust.
The organisation is now progressing with its new Strategic Plan 2025–2027, Data. Growth. Legacy. Which focuses on driving genetic improvement, building a sustainable and prosperous future for members, enhancing meat quality outcomes, and inspiring the next generation of agricultural leaders. This forward looking plan positions the Droughtmaster breed and its producers for strong, sustainable growth in the years ahead.
The Role
Support all office functions and business to maintain efficient workflow and to assist with membership queries. This role is ever evolving and no two days are the same.
Core objectives include:
* Act as first point of call for all phone calls, mail, deliveries, and visitors to the business and refer or action as required
* Maintain main office email and manage correspondence
* Schedule appointments and manage calendars
* Arrange travel and accommodation for Board
* Perform data entry, such as registrations, culls and run reports
* Assisting with the organisation of livestock Sales and Events
* Maintain the Members Register
* Process new member applications
* Co-ordinate office repairs and maintenance
* On occasions, travel may be required to destinations such as Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Roma
* Ad hoc tasks where required
The Candidate:
* Great phone manner
* A good work ethic and demonstrate initiative
* Minimum 3 years office experience
* Knowledge and/or experience in the livestock/agricultural industry an advantage
* Intermediate knowledge of the Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint
* Ability to learn our industry specific program
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Well organised with the ability to multi-task and problem solve
* Strong attention to detail
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
