Overview
Mechanical Technician (Diesel Mechanic – C8) in a permanent, full-time role working in an impressive mechanical workshop where no two days are the same. Primary function is to undertake scheduled maintenance and repairs of fire appliances and ancillary equipment. Working in a multi-skilled trades team, this role contributes to projects in collaboration with other departments across the organisation. Experience with fire appliances or emergency vehicles is preferred but not essential. Situated in the Thornbury workshop, the Mechanical Technician will carry out emergency field service repairs on the fireground to support operational Firefighter crews when required. A commitment to maintaining the highest Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards in the workshop and on scene is essential.
Responsibilities
- Undertake scheduled maintenance and repairs of fire appliances and ancillary equipment.
- Collaborate with a multi-skilled trades team to contribute to projects across the organisation.
- Carry out emergency field service repairs on the fireground to support operational Firefighter crews when required.
- Maintain high Occupational Health and Safety standards in the workshop and on site.
Qualifications
- Current Victorian HR Driver's Licence (compulsory).
- Minimum of 3-5 years of diesel mechanic experience.
