Primary objective
Responsible to the Regional Director Support Services, for the efficient and effective functioning of non-clinical Operational Service
Units at Katherine Hospital providing leadership and direction whilst ensuring services meet Departmental and Business objectives
and standards.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide support, effective leadership, and resource management for Operational Services including Patient Services, Grounds,

Catering, Housekeeping and Laundry areas of the hospital ensuring the provision of effective, efficient, and quality services.
2. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.
3. The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring service delivery is secure, of a high quality, innovative, and consistent with

organisational goals and corporate values.
4. Assist in budget preparation and oversee expenditure in relevant areas.
5. Actively manage the Katherine Hospital security contract ensuring all contract objectives and outcomes are performed to

standard.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures, Infection control and environmental

health standards relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Ability to interpret and apply a range of policies, procedures and legislation relating to services provided in a health or other

related setting.
2. Demonstrated experience in the management and leadership of a service delivery team including the ability to manage pressure,

lead change and resolve conflict, demonstrating adaptability, flexibility and resilience whilst maintaining integrity and
confidentiality.

3. Actively support and lead organisational change by engaging relevant stakeholders, communicating with transparency and
honesty, and empowering staff, whilst having the ability to interact with people from diverse cultures.

4. Knowledge and experience in contract management, Human Resource and Budget Management, proven Middle Management
and Cost Centre Management experience including the ability to relate appropriately to staff at all levels, maintaining
confidentiality and discretion.

5. High level of organisational and self-management and ability to think laterally, analytically and demonstrate initiative with an
aptitude for accuracy and attention to detail.

6. Ability to obtain or demonstrated knowledge and experience in recruitment and merit selection processes.
7. Ability to implement Work Health and Safety, Infection Control, Environmental Health, and Continuous Quality Improvement.
8. Experience in managing non-clinical operational services within a health service or other related settings.

Desirable
1. Tertiary qualification in Diploma of Management.
