About the role
Essential Need is delivering two approved online enrichment programs as part of the Victorian Challenge and Enrichment Series (VCES) 2026, a Victorian Government initiative supporting high-ability students across government schools. Both modules are delivered online, with live sessions facilitated via digital platforms.
We are seeking experienced educators to deliver these programs online to secondary students during the 2026 school year.
These roles suit teachers who enjoy working with
high-ability students
, facilitating discussion, and guiding inquiry using
real-world data and global case studies

Each educator will take lead responsibility for
one enrichment module
. Applicants may indicate a preference for one module or be considered for both.
The two modules
Module 1 -
Extreme Water Poverty: World Water Map Masterclass
Focus areas include:
* Global inequality and access to safe drinking water
* Systems thinking and ethical reasoning
* Interactive use of global datasets and maps
* Designed primarily for Years 7-12
Module 2 -
Water vs Human Development: Interdisciplinary Tutorial
Focus areas include:
* Human Development Index (HDI)
* Population growth, poverty, and development patterns
* Data interpretation and causal reasoning
* Designed primarily for Years 7–12
All curriculum content, slides, and student activity materials are
fully developed and provided

Time commitment (indicative)

1-3 live sessions per fortnight

What you'll do
* Facilitate live, online enrichment sessions (90 minutes)
* Guide students through inquiry-based activities and discussion
* Use interactive digital tools (maps, datasets, case studies)
* Adapt questioning for different year levels
* Deliver sessions with clarity, confidence, and professional presence
Who this suits

Experience with senior secondary Geography, data literacy, or enrichment programs is highly regarded.
Requirements
* Current or recent teaching experience (school or equivalent)
* Strong communication and facilitation skills
* Confidence using online teaching platforms (Zoom / Teams or similar)
* Comfortable teaching in an online environment
* Ability to work as an independent contractor
* Valid Working With Children Check (or ability to obtain one)
