Join to apply for the Strategy Manager role at PFD Food Services Pty Ltd
Company
For 81 years, we've achieved success through our ability to innovate, placing a explicit emphasis on how we best serve our customers’ needs. As demand continues to grow, we have expanded rapidly, now delivering a superior range of dry goods, frozen and chilled products, fresh seafood and meat, confectionery, paper products, and cleaning solutions.
In recent years, we’ve seen significant growth and invested in our systems and processes, building a close partnership with Woolworths Group that has continued to deliver high‑quality service for our customers and suppliers.
In 2024, Woolworths moved to a 100% interest in the PFD business, bringing PFD exciting opportunities as a strategic part of the Group. Sharing expertise across both teams will ensure our continued success and drive further growth and unlock our collective potential.
About this Position
At PFD, we bring people together through food. With a proud Australian heritage and the backing of Woolworths Group, we’re continuing to evolve how we serve our customers, empower our teams, and shape the future of foodservice.
We’re now looking for a Strategy Manager, a hands‑on strategist who can turn ideas into action. Someone who loves shaping the big picture but also rolling up their sleeves to make it happen.
This role sits at the heart of our Transformation team, working in close partnership with the CTO, CEO and ELT to bring our five‑year strategy to life. You’ll help refine our enterprise strategy, translate it into clear actions across regions and functions, and ensure every part of the organisation sees where they fit in the bigger story.
Our strategy journey kicks off in December so we’re looking for someone who’s ready to jump in, make sense of complexity, and help keep momentum as we move from planning to execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Refresh and evolve our enterprise and functional strategies, building the fact base across customers, markets and financials.
- Lead business case modelling, prioritisation and portfolio shaping in collaboration with Finance and Transformation.
- Turn insight into impact and translating analysis into stories, numbers and choices that drive action.
- Support regional and channel strategy development through clear playbooks and data‑led targets.
- Craft Board and ELT papers that connect the dots between strategy, performance and people.
- Conduct ad‑hoc deep dives into key opportunities and challenges (e.g. customer mix, cost‑to‑serve, digital adoption).
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you will bring:
- Solid strategy experience; corporate, business unit or transformation setting.
- A balance of strategic thinker and practical doer, equally at ease with frameworks, data, and delivery.
- Exceptional storytelling and communication skills who has a natural talent to translate analysis into clarity and action.
- Strong financial modelling and problem‑solving capability, with advanced Excel/Sheets and presentation skills.
- High EQ, curiosity and influence, someone who can challenge respectfully and bring others along.
- Industry background flexible; it’s about mindset, passion and drive.
What success looks like (6‑12 months)
- The strategy is embedded and understood across all levels and not as a document, but as a shared direction that guides decisions.
- You’ve built strong trust with functional and regional leaders, a credible thought partner who connects commercial insight with practical execution.
- You’re known for telling the story behind the numbers, simplifying complexity and shaping decisions that move the business forward.
- You balance big‑picture thinking with hands‑on delivery, keeping multiple priorities in motion with calm precision.
What PFD is Offering the Successful Candidate
We are offering competitive remuneration, superannuation and other staff benefits (such as discounts on staff purchases, discounted accommodation, health insurance and banking).
