The Prospect
At Ochre Medical Centre Walgett, you’ll be part of a busy and varied practice, providing vital GP services to the community while supporting Walgett Multipurpose Service Hospital, located right next door.
Doctors can walk from the clinic to the hospital to see patients, ensuring continuity of care and strong collaboration between clinic and hospital.
Throughout this program, you’ll receive practical, on-the-ground support from our experienced team, including nurses, practice staff, and hospital colleagues, helping you confidently navigate clinical cases and hospital workflows.

About the Practice and Hospital
Ochre Medical Centre Walgett is the sole medical centre in town, providing essential GP services to the community and hospital support.
The clinic works closely with Walgett Multipurpose Service Hospital, which has 24 beds (16 acute, 8 residential aged care) and provides 24-hour emergency care, general medicine, rehabilitation, respite, palliative care, renal dialysis, and community health programs.
Visiting specialists and allied health services, including mental health, drug and alcohol, women’s health, and skin checks, further enhance patient care and professional learning.

Walgett, meaning “meeting place of two rivers,” sits at the junction of the Namoi and Barwon Rivers in north-western NSW.
