Senior Legal and Policy Officer Location – Parramatta (flexible hybrid work arrangement) Employment type – Temporary full-time, 35 hpw up to 12 months Grade – Legal Officer Grade V Salary – $154,403 pa - $157,430 pa plus employers’ contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading Your role Leverage your legal expertise to lead strategic reform in the fight against modern slavery. This role oversees the Business and Human Rights / Legal team within the OASC, advancing innovative legal and policy initiatives—particularly focused on public procurement reform across NSW. Ideal for a corporate or regulatory lawyer with experience in modern slavery, human rights, and/or procurement, ready to lead with purpose in a high-impact environment. What you’ll do Lead the delivery of high-level legal and policy advice to combat modern slavery in NSW. You’ll support the Commissioner in fulfilling statutory functions under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (NSW)—including monitoring risks in government supply chains and promoting best practice. You’ll work closely with over 450 public entities to support compliance, implement the Commissioner’s guidance (including model clauses), and develop practical resources and training. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role requiring strong legal and policy capability, strategic thinking, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll need: Legal qualifications with a current unrestricted NSW practising certificate (or eligibility to obtain one) Experience in business and human rights or modern slavery Exceptional legal and/or policy analysis and drafting skills Strong communication skills and the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders Download the role description.
