Located in northwest Queensland, Cannington boasts an underground mine and processing facility situated approximately 800 kilometres west of Townsville and a concentrate handling facility at the Port of Townsville.Flights are direct to the onsite airport, and the mine is only 3.5 km from camp—the perfect distance for a sunset walk or run home along a purpose-built walking track.
The onsite accommodation includes meal services, sports/gym facilities, swimming pool, music room, and social area.WHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS14% superannuation contributions26 weeks full-paid, or 52 weeks half-paid parental leave for primary carersAbility to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional annual leaveThe chance to become a shareholder of South32 through our share plansEducation assistance up to $8000 per yearABOUT THE ROLEThis is a permanent position on an 8:6 Monday to Monday roster, FIFO from Brisbane or Townsville, or DIDO from Mount Isa, Cloncurry or McKinlay shires to our Cannington Operation.As the Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the Cannington Blueprint, providing specialised structural and civil engineering expertise, and managing modifications and projects to meet HSEC, quality and cost targets.Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:Execute design, analysis, inspection, verification and remediation of steel and concrete structuresGuide organisational strategy on structural and civil engineering risks, technology and best practiceDevelop and maintain asset management plans for critical structural and civil assetsSupport the development of maintenance strategies for new equipment and infrastructureABOUT YOUYou will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:Proficiency in structural and civil engineering design, inspection and remediationStructural engineering experience gained within relevant industriesStrong technical skills with exposure to process plant or mine site environmentsThorough knowledge of Australian Standards and regulations for structural and project engineeringQualifications for this position are:Degree in Civil/Structural EngineeringRPEQ and/or CPEng qualifiedAre you interested in this role but currently not located in one of our embarkation points?
