As an experienced paralegal at the Commission, you will provide critical support to legal staff within a dynamic legal team. This role involves assisting with legal documentation, discovery processes, hearing preparation, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations and compliance with Commission standards and processes. You will work closely with the Commission's lawyers and other staff, as well as external solicitors, barristers, witnesses, and other stakeholders, contributing to high‑quality legal outcomes. Pay
Base pay range: $90,868.00/yr – $99,582.00/yr
Responsibilities
* Conduct legal research and draft summaries of results from legal research
* Liaise with other regulators and government agencies, as well as court and tribunal staff
* Assist with the drafting, reviewing, and proofreading of legal documents and correspondence
* Attend to filing and serving of legal documents on lawyers and other parties
* Conduct basic searches and enquiries
* Liaise with complainants, respondents, counsel, legal practitioners, and witnesses as required
* Prepare and compile briefs for experts, mediators, and counsel
* Assist with discovery processes, including document inspection and preparation of lists
* Support preparation for court and tribunal hearings and provide assistance during hearings and mentions
* Organise and maintain electronic and physical filing systems to ensure the efficient storage and retrieval of legal documents
* Arrange meetings, appointment, conferences and interviews as required
* Maintain bring‑up systems and any other systems that may assist legal staff in their day‑to‑day operations
* Undertake general administrative tasks and other duties
* Autonomously work on assigned activities to meet the quality and timeframes agreed with the team
* Contribute to the development, maintenance and continuous improvement of precedents, processes and procedures
* Always project a professional image and display high levels of tact, strict confidentiality and discretion
* Be confident in juggling multiple priorities, be pro‑active, have a strong attention to detail and be highly organised
* Be flexible and willing to complete other duties as directed by the Commissioner and senior members of the Commission from time to time
