We are seeking a Health, Safety & Environment Coordinator in a part-time capacity (2-3 days per week) to be located in our Melbourne office (Kensington). Reporting to the HSE Manager based in Rockhampton, this role will focus on day-to-day requirements for our Melbourne teams.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
1. Monitoring operational processes and worker activities
2. Incident investigation and reporting
3. Hazard identification and mitigation
4. SWMS review
5. Client liaison (safety specific items) and other stakeholder liaison if required (e.g., safety regulators)
6. Communicating and implementing change and improvement
7. Coaching and mentoring supervisory and project staff regarding safe work practices and managing compliant work sites
8. Developing toolbox safety talks and office-specific initiatives if required
9. Managing upkeep and certification of safety items such as SDS, lifting equipment, harnesses, fire equipment, and first aid supplies
10. Coordinating training and verification of competency for key safety skills for the local workforce
11. Contributing to company-wide safety review and improvement initiatives, including weekly meetings with the national team and annual reviews
Required Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
1. Relevant HSE qualifications/certificates (or a commitment to obtain)
2. Experience working with systems compliant with AS/NZS 4801:2001, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018
3. Knowledge and experience of HSE systems in the rail, civil engineering, and/or construction industries
4. The ability to engage effectively with frontline employees
5. Proven capability to direct site and work-level staff regarding their HSE responsibilities
