37.5 hours per week

$104,539 - $125,092 per annum

Total Effective Package*

$128,925 - $154,042


About the role

The Payroll Team Leader is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of Payroll, ensuring that all payroll activities are processed accurately and on schedule – weekly, monthly and annually – in line with relevant legislation, the Congress Enterprise Agreement, and internal policies and procedures.

At the first point of contact for the payroll team, you will provide regular check‑ins and support. You will also work collaboratively with the Manager – Budgets and Financial Analysis to align processes and identify improvement initiatives. The position contributes to auditing processes, compliance reporting, reconciliations, and the investigation of payroll queries to ensure a consistently high standard of service is delivered to Congress and its employees.


To be considered for this position, you will require:

* Diploma level qualification in Business or Finance, or working towards a qualification, or minimum experience in a similar role.
* Experience and understanding of payroll and accounts processes, including computerised payroll systems.
* Ability to interpret industrial awards and knowledge of EEO, Occupational Health and Safety principles and superannuation.
* Excellent liaison and communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
* Ability to use Microsoft Office, in particular Word or Excel.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Ability to work with limited supervision, with excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
* Willingness, ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations.
